This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you visit tiffanyhuntromance.com, how we use it, who helps us handle it, and the choices you have. We’ve kept it as short and plain as we can. If anything is unclear, just email us at author@tiffanyhuntromance.com.
Who we are
This is the author website of Tiffany Hunt, a romantasy author. It’s run by Wild Ink Publishing, the company behind Tiffany’s books and this site. In this policy, “we,” “us,” and “our” mean Wild Ink Publishing. Our full contact details are at the end of this page.
The short version
- We collect personal information only when you choose to give it to us (by joining the newsletter or using the contact form), plus basic statistics about visits.
- We never sell your personal information, and we don’t use it for targeted advertising.
- You can ask us to see, correct, or delete your information at any time.
What we collect and why
Newsletter and bonus content
Our newsletter signup form asks only for your email address. A hidden field also notes which page of the site you signed up on.
Your signup is stored by MailerLite, our email provider. As a standard part of its service, MailerLite also records:
- the date and time you signed up
- the IP address you signed up from
- whether you open our newsletter emails, and which links in them you click
We use your email address only to send you the newsletter, news about Tiffany’s books, and bonus content. We never sell or rent it. Every email includes an unsubscribe link, so you can leave whenever you like.
As a subscriber, you’ll receive bonus content, such as extra scenes, through BookFunnel download links in our newsletter emails. These links aren’t posted on the public site. When you claim a download, BookFunnel handles the delivery and may ask for your email address. Anything you give BookFunnel is covered by BookFunnel’s own privacy policy.
Contact form
Our contact form asks for your first name, last name, email address, a subject, and your message. The form runs on Fluent Forms, a WordPress plugin. When you send a message, it’s stored in our website’s database (on our web host’s servers) and emailed to us. We use it only to reply to you.
To keep spam out, the form has two protections:
- Cloudflare Turnstile checks that you’re a human and not a bot. It runs in a small frame loaded from Cloudflare (challenges.cloudflare.com). To do the check, Cloudflare processes your IP address and signals from your device and browser. Turnstile sets no cookies on our site.
- A hidden “honeypot” field that people can’t see but bots tend to fill in. It doesn’t collect any personal data.
Analytics and visit counts
We use two tools to understand how readers use the site.
Google Analytics 4 loads on every page of the site. It shows us:
- which pages you view
- how you arrived, such as from a search engine or another website (the referrer)
- your approximate location (city and country)
- your device and browser type
- clicks on links that take you off our site, such as retailer buttons
Google Analytics sets two cookies, which are listed in our Cookie Policy. According to Google, Google Analytics 4 does not log or store IP addresses. Analytics data is kept for the retention period set in our Google Analytics account, which is no more than 14 months.
We use Google Analytics only to understand which pages and books interest readers. We don’t use it for advertising.
Jetpack Stats is a simple visit counter from Automattic, the company behind WordPress.com. It counts visits by sending small requests to stats.wp.com and pixel.wp.com. Jetpack Stats sets no cookies for visitors. To produce visit counts, Automattic processes your IP address (which is hashed), your browser, the page you’re viewing, the site that referred you, and your country.
Server logs
Our web host, HostGator, keeps standard server logs. These record your IP address, browser, the pages you request, and the time of each request. The logs are used for security and to keep the site running. HostGator also provides page caching, which stores copies of our pages so they load faster.
What we don’t collect
- There are no visitor accounts and comments are closed, so we don’t hold visitor usernames, passwords, or comments.
- We don’t sell anything on this site, so we never ask for payment details.
- Our fonts are hosted on our own server, so loading a page doesn’t send requests to an outside font service.
- Our social media links are plain links, with no embedded feeds, tracking pixels, or share buttons.
Cookies
We keep cookies to a minimum. The only cookies set for visitors are two first-party Google Analytics cookies. WordPress also sets login cookies, but only for site administrators who sign in, never for visitors.
Because our only visitor cookies are first-party analytics cookies, we don’t show a cookie banner. Instead, we explain how to opt out. For the full list and how to control cookies, see our Cookie Policy.
Affiliate links and other websites
Some of the Amazon buy links on this site are affiliate links. As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases. Buying through an affiliate link costs you nothing extra. When you click one, Amazon may set cookies on its own site to credit the referral.
Our other retailer links, such as those for Barnes & Noble, Apple Books, Kobo, Bookshop.org, and Audible, simply take you to those stores. Our links to Instagram, TikTok, and Facebook work the same way. Once you leave our site, that site’s own privacy policy applies.
Who we share it with
We share personal information only with the service providers that help us run the site and the newsletter:
- MailerLite: stores our newsletter list and sends our emails. Data: email address, signup page, signup date and time, IP address, email opens and clicks. MailerLite privacy policy
- BookFunnel: delivers bonus content to newsletter subscribers. Data: your email address, if BookFunnel asks for it when you claim a download. BookFunnel privacy policy
- Google Analytics: measures how the site is used. Data: pages viewed, referrer, approximate location, device and browser type, clicks on outbound links. Google privacy policy
- Cloudflare Turnstile: checks that people using the contact form are human. Data: IP address, device and browser signals. Cloudflare privacy policy
- Jetpack Stats (Automattic): counts visits to the site. Data: IP address (hashed), browser, page, referrer, country. Automattic privacy policy
- HostGator: hosts the website, including the database where contact messages are stored. Data: server logs (IP address, browser, pages requested, time) and contact form messages. HostGator privacy policy
We don’t sell your data
We don’t sell your personal information, and we don’t share it for cross-context behavioral advertising (ads aimed at you based on what you do across different websites). We don’t use targeted advertising at all.
We also honor Global Privacy Control (GPC). If your browser sends a GPC signal, we treat it as a request to opt out of any sale or sharing of your personal information. Since we don’t sell or share it, there’s nothing extra to switch off, but we respect the signal all the same.
How long we keep it
- Newsletter: until you unsubscribe, plus a short period afterward for our records.
- Contact messages: as long as we need to reply to you and keep a record of our conversation.
- Server logs: according to HostGator’s standard schedule.
- Analytics: for the retention period set in our Google Analytics account, which is no more than 14 months.
Your choices and rights
You can ask us to:
- show you the personal information we hold about you
- correct it
- delete it
- unsubscribe you from the newsletter (or you can click the unsubscribe link in any email)
To make a request, email author@tiffanyhuntromance.com. We’ll respond within 30 days, or within 45 days where a US state privacy law allows that.
Anyone can make these requests. If you live in the European Union or the United Kingdom, or in a US state with a consumer privacy law (such as California), these are also your rights by law.
For visitors in the EU and UK: we rely on your consent to send you the newsletter, and you can withdraw it at any time by unsubscribing. We rely on our legitimate interests for analytics, site security, spam protection, and answering your messages. You also have the right to complain to a data protection authority, such as the one in the country where you live.
To opt out of analytics: install Google’s Analytics opt-out browser add-on, or block cookies in your browser settings. Our Cookie Policy has more detail.
Children
This site is intended for adults. It isn’t directed at children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect personal information from children. If you think a child has given us their information, please email us so we can delete it.
Where your data is processed
We’re based in the United States, and the providers listed above store and process information in the US and, for some of them, in other countries. If you’re visiting from another country, the data protection laws where your information is processed may differ from those where you live.
Security
We take reasonable steps to protect your information, including:
- HTTPS on every page of the site
- reputable, well-established service providers
- limited access to the site’s admin area
Even so, no method of sending or storing information online is 100% secure, so we can’t guarantee absolute security.
Changes to this policy
If we update this policy, we’ll change the “Last updated” date at the top. If we make significant changes, we’ll note them on this page.
